Spaniel

The spaniel breeds consist of retrievers, whose main function is to recover the prey of the hunter. In the case of spaniels, the prey is a bird. They are medium or small size, and have long silky hair and droopy ears. The word “spaniel” derives from the French word espaigneul (Spanish), as these dogs are descended from ancient hunting dogs of the Iberian Peninsula.

They are usually very similar personality and usually the differences lie in their origin and physical. In the case of American Cocker Spaniel and English Cocker Spaniel , the latter is bigger and taller, and also has denser fur. There is also spaniel toy breeds such as Pekingese, the Japanese Spaniel and Papillon.
