Flag of Bangladesh

The flag of Bangladesh was adopted on 17 January 1972 and, except for the green background, is very similar to the flag of Japan. Originally, a flag with a golden map of the country was used, but this form was abandoned for reasons of simplification. So the flag is composed of a green leaf and a red circle. The circle is not located exactly in the center of the flag, but is offset slightly towards the pole, which creates the illusion that the circle is actually located in the center when the flag is hung. The circle marks the beginning of independence or the sun rising over the Bay of Bengal. The green background symbolizes the fertile landscape here, and green is also the traditional color of Islam.

Flag of Bangladesh

Bangladesh is a state in South Asia that is largely surrounded by Indian territory. See Bangladesh Location on World Map. Bangladesh means “Land of Bengal” in the local language. Bangladesh consists mainly of fertile alluvial plains, but severe storms often occur, which result in severe flooding and devastation.

Since separating from Pakistan in 1971, the country has experienced troubled, politically unstable times with several phases of emergency.

Important economic sectors are jute production, textiles and agriculture.
