Flag of Bosnia and Herzegovina
The flag of Bosnia and Herzegovina has a very unusual shape. The right part of the flag is formed by a vertical blue stripe and the central part by a yellow right-angled triangle, the hypotenuse of which is adjacent to seven full and two half white five-pointed stars. The pole part is filled with blue. The blue color, together with the white stars, is intended to remind Bosnia and Herzegovina of membership in the Council of Europe. The peaks of the triangle represent three nations – Croats, Serbs and Bosniaks. The blue, white and yellow colors used on the flag are traditionally associated with peace and neutrality. The flag in its current form was only adopted in 1998, as a white flag with the coat of arms of Tvrtko Kotromanić from the 14th century was used shortly after the declaration of independence from Yugoslavia.
Bosnia and Herzegovina, a state in southeastern Europe, emerged from the former Yugoslavia, but today has the borders again that were allocated to the country at the Berlin Congress in 1878. See Bosnia and Herzegovina Location on World Map. The economy was quite destroyed after the Bosnian War (1992-1995) and recovered only very slowly with massive international aid. Export demand and investment activity are considered to be important drivers. The large and inefficient public sector, bureaucratic obstacles for entrepreneurs and the fragmented labor market, which reflects the ethnic division of the country, are seen as problematic for economic development. Nonetheless, annual economic growth of over 3% is expected over the next few years.
