According to countryaah, the British Virgin Islands are a group of islands in the Lesser Antilles in the Caribbean, east of Puerto Rico. They are a British overseas territory of the United Kingdom. 16 of the over 60 islands and reefs are inhabited. The climate is subtropical and humid, the temperatures are moderate due to winds. The economy, one of the most stable and prosperous in the Caribbean, is very dependent on tourism. From the mid-1980s, the administration offered companies the opportunity to be based on the islands with a mailbox company. The fees for setting up such firms became an important part of the national income. Approx. 400,000 letterbox companies were registered on the islands at the end of 2000.

The largest city in the British Virgin Islands is Road Town, located on the island of Tortola. It is home to around 9,000 people and is known for its vibrant nightlife scene as well as its numerous parks and gardens. Road Town has a variety of cultural attractions such as museums dedicated to both local history and modern art, as well as several churches dating back to colonial times. Additionally there are plenty of shopping opportunities with numerous markets selling everything from traditional British Virgin Island food to international luxury items. The city also hosts a variety of festivals throughout the year including Emancipation Festival in August which features traditional music performances, dance performances, food stalls, and more.
