According to countryaah, Guam (written in the local language Chamorro Guåhån ) is the largest and southernmost island of the Mariana Archipelago in the western Pacific Ocean. It is a non-incorporated territory of the United States (see outer territories of the United States ). The capital is Hagåtña, but the most populous settlement is Dededo.
The island is known for the strategically important Andersen Air Force Base located there, an air force base of the US Air Force, as well as for the spectacular extinction of almost the entire native bird world due to the brown snake, which was probably introduced during the Second World War during troop and material transports ( Boiga irregularis ).

Biggest Cities of Guam by Population
The largest cities in Guam are the capital city of Hagåtña and the port city of Apra Harbor. Both cities offer visitors a variety of attractions to explore and experience.
Hagåtña is the capital of Guam, located on the western side of the island. It is known for its colorful Spanish-style buildings, which line its streets and give it a unique charm. Visitors can explore Fort Santa Agueda, an old Spanish fort built in 1680, or take a stroll through Plaza de Espana, a beautiful park located at the heart of Hagåtña. Other attractions include Chamorro Village, where visitors can learn about traditional customs and buy handmade crafts from local artisans; Asan Beach Park with its gorgeous views and water activities; and Two Lovers Point, an iconic spot with breathtaking views overlooking the Pacific Ocean!
Apra Harbor is situated on Guam’s west coast and is one of the island’s main ports for both cargo ships and cruise liners alike! The harbor features some stunning views as well as plenty of restaurants serving up delicious local cuisine alongside international dishes so you can sample some truly unique flavors! Visitors can also explore War in the Pacific National Historical Park which features exhibits about World War II along with monuments dedicated to fallen soldiers. There are also several shops selling local crafts such as handmade jewelry or traditional pottery pieces from Apra Harbor artisans! Finally, there are plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy such as fishing charters, kayaking trips or snorkeling adventures to experience Guam’s beautiful coral reefs!
