Flag of Kazakhstan

Adopted after the dissolution of the Soviet Union and the declaration of independence in 1992, the flag of Kazakhstan consists of a pale blue press and a yellow ornament in the center of the flag. The ornament is composed of the silhouette of a steppe eagle (also known as a “berkut”), which carries a sun with thirty-two rays on its wings. In addition, a yellow edging in the national pattern runs along the pole side of the flag. The azure blue color was already used on the original flag and is the traditional color of the nomadic peoples of Central Asia. The very first national flag was adopted in 1937 and carried two yellow inscriptions (Kazakh Latin and Russian Cyrillic), during the times of Soviet domination a blue stripe and a large yellow hammer and sickle were added.

According to Abbreviation Finder, the country has had a brand new capital since 1997. The old capital was in the south of the country and is called Almati or earlier Alma Ata. The new capital was called Astana. This city was created in a short time and most of all shows the power of the Kazakh President. Kazakhstan is a dictatorship that has been ruled by the same president for more than 20 years. In the meantime (2019) the capital Kazakhstan has already been renamed again, namely in Nursultan, after the long-standing President of Kazakhstan. Kazakhstan’s new president Kassym-Shomart Tokayev had decided this.
