Flag of Myanmar
The current flag of Myanmar was adopted along with the new constitution in 2010 and is composed of three horizontal stripes in red, green and yellow. A relatively large white five-pointed star is placed in the center of the flag. The flag is inspired by the flag of Burma from around World War II. The yellow stripe here signifies solidarity between nations, the green the natural wealth of the country, the red the courage of the local population during numerous battles, and the white star symbolizes the hope for the unity of all nations living in the country. However, the flag is not perceived positively by everyone, the opposition of the current government considers it a symbol of attempts at the forcible assimilation of ethnic groups.
Myanmar is located in Southeast Asia on the east bank of the Bay of Bengal and the Andaman Sea. See Myanmar Location on World Map. British colonial rule ended in 1948. Unrest, uprisings, political oppression and ethnic conflicts soon dominated the scene. When the National League for Democracy (NLD) won free elections in 1990, the military prevented them from taking office.
The most important branch of the economy is agriculture. Myanmar’s natural treasures include abundance of fish and teak tree forests.

Myanmar: Naypyidaw
According to Abbreviation Finder, the country’s capital was relocated in 2005 and is now called Naypyidaw and is a city that was artificially created rather than naturally grown. The military planned it and its area is six times the size of Berlin. A little over a million people live there. Translated, the name means “royal city”, but in reality this city is anything but royal. Tourists can hardly find their way here. It cost billions of dollars to build – no details are available.
