Flag of Seychelles
The Seychelles flag was adopted in 1996 and consists of five flaring rays emanating from the lower mast corner. The stripe colors are, from left to right, blue, yellow, red, white, and green. These colors are meant to symbolize the country’s fresh and bold approach to the future. The blue color represents the sea and the sky, and yellow the sharp rays of the local sun. Red symbolizes the people and their determination to work hard for the future of the country. White traditionally represents harmony and social justice, and green the earth and the environment. This color spectrum also contains the colors of all Seychelles political parties.
The Republic of the Seychelles (German: [zeˈʃɛlən], English: [seɪˈʃɛlz], French: [seˈʃɛl]) is an island nation in the Indian Ocean. This is east of Africa and north of Madagascar and Mauritius. The Comoros lie between Africa and the Seychelles.
The republic consists of 115 islands and is divided into 32 mountain islands (mainly granite stone), which represent the actual Seychelles, and numerous small coral islands, the so-called Outer Islands, which are spread over an area of over 400,000 km².

The largest city in Seychelles is Victoria, the capital. Located on the island of Mahe, it has a population of around 25 thousand people and is a vibrant city with plenty to explore. Popular attractions here include Botanical Gardens which offer stunning views over the city; National Museum of History which houses some fascinating artifacts; or Clock Tower Market where visitors can explore some interesting souvenirs. Other attractions worth visiting include Victoria Market which offers a variety of local produce; Sir Selwyn Selwyn-Clarke Market where visitors can find some delicious street food; or Takamaka Rum Distillery where visitors can sample some of the local rum.
The second largest city in Seychelles is Anse Boileau. Located on the island of Mahe, it has a population of around 5 thousand people and offers some beautiful beaches such as Anse Boileau Beach or Port Launay Beach as well as plenty to explore. Popular attractions here include Port Launay Marine National Park where visitors can admire some stunning coral reefs; La Digue Island Nature Reserve which offers plenty of wildlife spotting opportunities; or Vallee de Mai Nature Reserve which houses one of the oldest palm forests in the world. Other cities worth visiting include Beau Vallon where visitors can enjoy some beautiful waterfalls such as Cascade de Barbarons or Cascade du Gros Paradis; La Passe where visitors can explore some interesting monuments such as L’Union Estate House or Mission de La Digue Monument; or Grand Anse Praslin where visitors can admire some stunning beaches such as Anse Lazio Beach or Grand Anse Praslin Beach.
