Flag of Czech Republic

The flag of the Czech Republic consists of two equally wide stripes – red at the bottom and white at the top. A blue wedge is placed between the stripes towards the pole. The flag signifies national unity, which was and is very important for a country whose identity has changed countless times in just a century. Independent Czechoslovakia was established in 1918, and the appearance of the flag, which is still used today, with the exception of World War II, comes from this period. After the war, in 1948, the communists took over the government in the country, and in 1993, Czechoslovakia split into independent Slovakia and the Czech Republic. The Czech Republic kept the flag, only the interpretation of the flag changed slightly. And so today the blue wedge, which was originally meant to represent Slovakia, represents Moravia.

Finally, tourists can also visit Moravian Karst region where they can find some unique caves like Macocha Abyss with its impressive underground waterfalls and stalactite formations.
