Flag of Chad

The flag of Chad is composed of a vertical tricolor in blue, yellow and red. The flag is almost identical to the flag of Romania, but its blue stripe is rendered in a darker shade. The flag is inspired by the French tricolor, as Chad was a French colony for many years. At the same time, the flag also carries two pan-African colors – there are obvious ties to France and other African states. The blue stripe on the pole side of the flag represents the African sky and waterways, the yellow stripe symbolizes the sun and the arid deserts of northern Chad, and the red traditionally signifies the courage and blood shed during the struggle for independence. The flag was adopted in 1959, when Chad broke free from French rule.

Flag of Chad

The Republic of Chad is a landlocked country in Central Africa. Chad stretches from the dry Sahara desert in the north over the climatic and vegetation zones of the Sahel and Sudan to the area of dry forests in the extreme south. In the south of the country there is an almost tropical, humid climate, while in the north there is a desert climate with large daily temperature differences and extremely rare rainfall.

Due to internal conflicts and prolonged periods of drought, Chad is one of the poorest countries in the world.
